According to the US News & World Report National Universities Rankings 2011, Johns Hopkins University is the highest ranked institution in the state of Maine, with a ranking position of 13th nationally, followed by University of Maryland--College Park (56th nationally) and University of Maryland--Baltimore County (159th nationally).
