Maryland universities are ranked highly in the United States and in the world. According to the US News & World Report National Universities Rankings 2011, Johns Hopkins University is the highest ranked institution in the state of Maine, with a ranking position of 13th nationally, followed by University of Maryland--College Park (56th nationally) and University of Maryland--Baltimore County (159th nationally).
Johns Hopkins University is also rated among the best universities in the world. It is ranked 17th globally in the QS World University Rankings 2010.
