Some of the "Best in the West" colleges include:

Oklahoma State University - It is one of the best colleges in the West, based on several factors including academics and students’ responses, according to the nationally known education services company, The Princeton Review. Student comments that describe OSU at the website include “academics that rival any school in the nation” and a “fun, friendly environment” that “keeps the college experience fun and relaxed”. In addition OSU scored 99 in the “Quality of Life” category.

Whitworth University - It has been designated one of the best colleges and universities in the West in a recent college guide published by Princeton Review. In the profile on Whitworth, students said the university offers "a solid liberal arts education in a spectacular setting" and a "very personable environment with a strong emphasis on Christian beliefs".

California State University, East Bay - The Princeton Review selected Cal State East Bay as a "Best in the West" college for 2011 for the seventh consecutive year. The report is based on surveys of current students, who noted the following highlights: affordable tuition; small class sizes; strong business, nursing, and teaching programs; diligent, career-minded students; multicultural community.

The University of North Texas - It is the largest and most comprehensive university in the North Texas region. The University was one of 120 institutions to be recommended in the "Best in the West" section in the website feature 2011 Best Colleges: Region by Region (PrincetonReview.com). According to The Princeton Review website, students say UNT is a "wonderfully diverse" school that offers "an affordable education".
